Statement

My life and art practice inhabits the dichotomous worlds of conflict and balance, proposing solutions within flux, generating fluidity within the fragmented mind. I conjure a sense of an internal, intuitive shifting reality attempting to respond to a physical world.

I regard painting as a particular mode of thinking or action in which interplay between physiological and psychological, conscious and unconscious, intention and failure. The work’s form is charged by the dynamics of the process in which something that spontaneously forms and continues forming.

My focus has been the painting practice. Specifically investigating the painting surface and the formation of the painting in relationship with revealing the instability of space. To explore the potentiality of the panel singularly or within an associative collective context. To eliminate the concept of a final or fixed position, retaining the canvases mobility by cultivating numerous hanging alternatives, grouping them together in no specific way, allowing only time and space to determine its relative position, exploring its potentiality and possibilities. The paintings are in a state of shifting, oscillating between abstraction and figuration; intention and process; de-formation and re-formation; conflicts and balance.
